Weekly reflection

 

This week started off and ended a bit stressful. Getting into the senior project grove was a little weird for me. I woke Monday morning feeling completely disoriented because I did not have to go to classes, which has just become a natural part of my day. Along with the fact that it was up to me to create a schedule and make sure my work gets done. Luckily I was able to create something that works everyday and will follow for the rest of the senior project. Now I know that I am going to wake up at 9 everyday and start working by 9:30-9:45 so I really make the most of my day. To some extent the freedom of working on my time during the day and not having a teacher there every second was weird and sometimes I missed class because being alone was not always fun. 

Checking in with Ellie every other day was easy to plan and I felt each meeting was productive because I often had sent her a draft of my podcast the night before. During each meeting we made sure I understood her corrections, reviewed any new information we found out regarding the senior project, and made a plan for my public demo. I am super excited to present to Ellie’s identity literature class. 

This past week I feel like it has given me a good idea and glimpse into a more college based lifestyle because I am in charge of when what gets done along with how I use my time more efficiently. My project has also taught me a lot about time management because it’s a big project but I have been working on it all year and breaking into chunks helps. I also found that working outside was super beneficial for me because it was nice to have the breeze and occasionally a quick conversation with some passing or walking into Sally. Overall, I feel my time was well spent because if I had sent a draft of my podcast the night before, I spent the morning working on my paper and then that afternoon on the podcast. That way I felt I had some variety in my life and was not boring myself completely. This next week I hope to complete my public demonstration and I have to finish my paper by Wednesday which I am definitely a little worried about. I also hope to send my podcast out so the entire school can enjoy it because I worked hard on it and am truly so proud of my final product. And finally I am of course excited for Mamma Mia!
